Reading and saved content
Can I read offline?
Yes. The app keeps a local reading library. Open it online occasionally to receive content updates. If loading fails, reopen the app; valid downloaded content is retained when an update cannot be loaded.
Where are my saved readings?
Open the Saved tab. Saved readings and reading history sync through your private iCloud account when available. Use the same Apple Account on your devices and open the app online to sync. Sync runs automatically when the app opens, while it remains active and online, and after saves change; there is no Sync Now button. Allow time for an initial download on a new device. Check that iCloud is enabled and available for the app. Themes, topics and reminder preferences remain local. Deleting the app does not delete an existing iCloud library. A corrected or removed reading may become unavailable after a content update.
How do I report a source or translation issue?
Email the reading’s source reference or identifier and a description of the issue. If possible, include the relevant edition or a reliable source link. Use the book, chapter and verse reference shown with the reading, or attach a screenshot. We can provide source and attribution information for a specific passage on request.
Content and copyright concerns
If a reading feels misleading, disrespectful, unsafe, or incorrectly attributed, email [email protected]. Include the source reference shown in the app and what needs attention. You do not need an academic qualification to report a concern.
For a copyright report, email [email protected]. Identify the reading and the work or rights affected, explain your connection to the rights holder, and include relevant evidence and contact details. We may temporarily withdraw content while assessing a report. Please avoid attaching unnecessary sensitive documents.
Corrections and removals are delivered in content updates. Devices need a successful online refresh to receive them; previously exported images cannot be recalled.
Reminders and widgets
How do meditation reminders work?
In version 1.0.1 and later, onboarding offers a separate meditation reminder after your daily wisdom reminder, with 8 PM as the default. Continue saves the time and requests notification permission; Not now leaves this reminder off. Meditation reminders activate with Premium after onboarding. Change the time or turn them off in Settings → Music & stillness. Tapping the reminder opens meditation. Daily wisdom reminders and meditation timer-ending alerts are separate.
My daily reminder isn’t arriving.
In Ancient Wisdom - Daily Quotes, open Settings → Daily reminder, choose a time, and tap Enable reminder or Update reminder. Also check that notifications are allowed for Ancient Wisdom - Daily Quotes in iOS Settings. Focus modes and Scheduled Summary can affect when an alert appears. You can disable the reminder at any time. During onboarding, tapping Continue saves the displayed time, even if you have not changed it, and asks for notification permission if needed. Choosing Not now leaves reminders off.
Which widgets are available?
The app offers a large Home Screen widget and a rectangular Lock Screen widget. Small and medium Home Screen widgets are not available. The Lock Screen widget is a compact link to today’s reading. Widget colors and backgrounds adapt to the rendering style selected in iOS; they do not reproduce your in-app reading theme.
My widget says to open the app.
Open Ancient Wisdom - Daily Quotes to initialize or refresh its shared reading data. The widget can extend its daily schedule from the local collection without the app being open, but iOS controls when it runs and refreshes. Open the app online to receive new or corrected readings. If a widget remains unavailable after opening the app, try removing and adding it again.
Premium and billing
I paid, but Premium isn’t active.
Check that you are using the Apple account that made the purchase. Open Ancient Wisdom - Daily Quotes → Settings → Restore Purchases while online. If that doesn’t restore access, contact us with the product name and purchase date; redact unrelated information from any receipt you share.
How do I cancel or request a refund?
Manage or cancel through Apple’s subscription settings. Deleting Ancient Wisdom - Daily Quotes does not cancel billing. Refund requests go through Apple’s refund service.
What stays free?
Daily readings and their English translations, saves, sharing, a daily reminder, widgets, and library previews are available without a subscription. Premium unlocks deeper dives, full exploration of the available reading library, additional themes, and, in supported app versions, calming music, guided breathing and timed self-guided meditation sessions. Onboarding includes a free preview. The library contains selected passages rather than complete editions of every book. Check the current offer for the benefits included before purchase.
Themes and personalization
How do I change my theme?
Open Settings → Themes and tap a theme. An available theme applies immediately and shows a selection checkmark; the screen stays open so you can compare choices. Additional themes require Premium. A theme preview in onboarding lets you try its look before purchasing. Your selected reading theme keeps its intended palette in both light and dark mode; the surrounding app follows your appearance setting.
How do I change my topics?
Open Settings → Personalize topics. Select up to five topics, or leave them blank for a mix.
Music and breathing
Where can I take a breathing pause?
In supported versions, open Today and choose Breathe & meditate beneath the passage. Premium includes three-, five-, or nine-breath sessions. Quick breathe pauses when you leave the app; resume when you are ready. Quiet meditation offers 3-, 5-, 10- and 15-minute presets or a custom duration from 1 to 60 minutes, optional breathing preparation, music or silence, and optional opening and ending bells. You can hide the timer, pause, resume or finish early.
Why can’t I hear music?
When reading music is enabled, it plays even in Silent Mode. You can turn it off using the speaker control. Tap Play or Begin with music to start other listening sessions. Check device volume and your audio output. If another app is playing audio, pause it first. Premium members can choose tracks and set music and haptic preferences in Settings → Music & stillness. Music is bundled for offline playback. Reading music and previews stop when you leave the app. Music in a timed meditation continues while locked and ends with the session. Silent sessions use a local ending notification if allowed; Silent Mode, Focus and notification settings can prevent an audible alert. Notification volume is controlled by your iPhone. If the app is terminated, an unfinished session is recovered paused when reopened; music does not automatically restart. After a call or disconnected headphones, start playback again deliberately. Music acknowledgments are included in our Terms and Privacy pages.
Privacy and accessibility
Does the app have an analytics opt-out?
No. Product analytics are enabled by default, and the current app has no switch to disable them in Settings or onboarding. We use PostHog for limited product events and RevenueCat for subscription and paywall services. We do not send search text or selected topics to PostHog, but reading identifiers and interaction history can indicate preferences. See our Privacy Policy for the data involved and how to make a privacy request.
Text or controls are hard to use.
Ancient Wisdom - Daily Quotes follows your iOS text size and supports light and dark appearances. You can choose an appearance in app Settings. If something clips, has poor contrast, or is difficult with VoiceOver, please tell us which screen and accessibility setting you were using so we can investigate.
